After nearly two decades in editorial work, one thing has become clear: the stories that matter most are the ones rooted in real people, real places, and genuine connection. Kern Magazine was created from that belief. It’s a space to tell stories from a place of love, curiosity, and care, and to celebrate the people who make this beautiful county what it is.

As a Kern County native, Bakersfield born, Wasco raised, and proud Cherokee, honoring Native voices and preserving cultural history is woven into the heart of this platform. This digital magazine exists to uplift many perspectives, because our community is not a single story, but a collection of lived experiences that together reflect who we truly are as a community.

Through Kern County businesses, local arts and culture, and the places we love to explore, Kern Magazine shines a light on the people shaping life here every day.
